About

The NASPA-FL Conference Committee invites you to join us for the annual drive-in conference to be held from September 26-27, 2019 at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.  As higher education and the field of student affairs continue to evolve, being an Agent of C.H.A.N.G.E. is increasingly important.  The drive-in conference is an opportunity for higher education professionals to challenge themselves to become Agents of C.H.A.N.G.E. (Choosing Hope And Navigating Growth Experiences).

Case Study Competition

Prior to the official start of the conference, we will be hosting the annual Case Study Competition from 12:00PM-6:00PM for undergraduates, graduate students, and new professionals to utilize their knowledge of student affairs theory and how it applies to real-world situations.

There will be three categories of competitors-undergraduates, current graduate students, and new professionals in the first two years of their positions. Up to ten teams can compete in each category.  Each team will analyze, evaluate, and provide solutions to a thought provoking case relevant to the field of Student Affairs to a panel of judges that is representative of student affairs practitioners and faculty. We are encouraging members of your institutions to form a team for the competition. Winners will be announced at the closing conference ceremony and will also receive a prize. Attached you will find additional information regarding the event.

We strongly suggest that institutions host a local competition to determine which team from each category advances to the statewide competition. Cases from previous NASPA-FL competitions may be used for local, competitions, or you may want to ask some of your student affairs professionals on campus to create a case and judge the on-campus event.

Please note that all participants must register for the NASPA-FL Drive in Conference to be eligible to participate.

If you are interested in competing, please register here.  Please feel free to contact Sonja Montas-Hunter directly at [email protected], if you have additional questions.

Call for Programs

The conference committee is seeking innovative program proposals for the drive-in conference.  We encourage presenters to focus on the four pillars of NASPA – Inquiry, Inclusion, Integrity, and Innovation.  The values of our organization reflect the spirit, purpose, and curiosity of its members.  As student affairs professionals and NASPA members, we strive to offer leadership, scholarship, and professional development to student affairs.  In honoring our mission, proposals may address what the mission of NASPA means to them and how their program embodies the organization’s guiding principles.

Proposals will be evaluated based on content; relevance to current issues and the Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners; evidence of clearly stated outcomes and objectives; contribution to the knowledge and practice of student affairs; and adherence to program submission guidelines.

Please submit demographic information for the coordinating presenter and complete all of the fields below.

For longer text fields, such as program abstract and outline, you may find it easier to type in a word processing program and cut and paste into the space provided.

There are three types of programs being offered at this year's NASPA-FL Drive-In Conference.

  • 50 minute program within any area of student affairs.
  • 30-minute program on your department’s “Best Practice.”
  • 50-minute session for the NASPA-FL Undergraduate Symposium.
