The NASPA-AL Drive-In is a one-day conference that brings together Student Affairs professionals from across the state of Alabama. Our theme, Bridge the Gap! Creating meaningful professional connections, will allow us to navigate the changing landscape of higher education. Together, we will learn from one another, discuss the critical issues impacting our field, and network with new and established colleagues.

Open to everyone, from Chief Student Affairs officers, to New Professionals and Graduate Students, the NASPA-AL Drive-In will have intentional time to meet with others in your functional areas as well as learn from those who are on the cutting edge of innovative student affairs practices.

NEW PROFESSIONALS

To further enhance your conference experience, New Professionals (those with less than 5 years in the field of Student Affairs) and Graduate Students are encouraged to attend the New Professionals Institute on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

The New Professional Institute will allow New Professionals and Graduate Students to have a chance to meet with seasoned student affairs professionals and learn strategies to be successful in this field.

This pre-conference opportunity will include lunch from a local Birmingham restaurant, and is included with the cost of registration until December 31 (early bird registration).

CHIEF STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICERS

Chief Student Affairs Officers are invited to join Dr. John Jones, the Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for a think-tank session during the Drive In. The meeting will be begin with lunch and will then move to structured time together.

FACULTY

Faculty are asked to perform research and service to their universities. The NASPA-AL Drive In offers a space for faculty attendees to learn to Bridge the Gap between academic and student affairs in order to improve their connections and support the academic missions of their institutions.

Birmingham, Alabama

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is located in the center of downtown Birmingham, AL. The NASPA-AL Drive-In will be held in the Hill Student Center, located on the corner of University Blvd. and 14th Street S.

Make your way onto University Boulevard If traveling from the south on I-65N, take exit 259 for University Boulevard, take a right on University Blvd, and travel four blocks to 16th Street South. If traveling from the north on I-65S, take exit 259B for 4th Avenue South, take a right on 16th Street South, travel 4 blocks to University Blvd. If traveling from Hwy 31/Hwy 280, take the University Boulevard exit and take a right on University Blvd. Travel 11 blocks to 16th Street South. Parking is available in Lot 5A, the entrance to the lot is on 16th Street South.
