About

How can – and should – women senior student affairs officers lead the way in addressing critical issues on campus? How do women balance personal activism and professional obligations in spaces where there is no grace given? During this chat, three phenomenal leaders in student affairs will share their experiences with addressing critical issues on campus with respect to their positional power and personal identities. Our panelists will address how they personally approach the balance of expressing (or suppressing) their personal activism with perceived “no win” situations that senior student affairs leaders manage up, down, and all around. Additionally, our panelists will discuss their approaches to self-care and wellness when managing intense issues that can take an emotional toll.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Shannon Ellis, Vice President for Student Services, University of Nevada, Reno
  • Dr. Lori Miyo Ideta, Interim Vice Chancellor for Students, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa
  • Dr. Lori White, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Washington University in St. Louis
  • Moderator | Joanna Iwata, Associated Students Senior Coordinator of Governance & Operations, California State University, Monterey Bay

Join us for this fireside chat on Wednesday, July 24 at 4:00pm Eastern. This event is open to all NASPA members. Participation is available on a first come, first served basis. The registration form will close when we’ve reached capacity for this event.
