About

Mid-level professionals are some of the most influential forces on campus. In pivotal positions, they serve students directly while promoting the learning, growth, and development of their staff. As managers, they provide critical insight and perspective to senior administrators and bridge the gap between Academic and Student Affairs. In appreciation of the varied roles mid-level professionals play, the MLI provides focused learning and a valuable networking opportunity. Developed for those in a managerial position with professional staff supervision and development responsibilities, the MLI curriculum offers a space to learn from senior student affairs officers and the opportunity to share cross-sector collaboration techniques and approaches.

Institute Goals and Learning Objectives

The Mid-Level Professionals Institute aims to enrich the experience of middle managers while exploring expanded roles, increased impact, and career advancement. By providing support and resources, we will explore the skills necessary to sustain high-performance and the knowledge needed to transition into a senior administrator role.

Through the Mid-Level Professionals Institute, participants will be able to:

  • Identify professional competency areas for both mid-level and senior student affairs officers;
  • Recognize professional enrichment and development opportunities at the mid-level;
  • Reflect on career objectives, professional pathways and developmental goals; and
  • Connect with a student affairs leadership network.
