Program Coordinator, LEAD Scholars Program
Santa Clara University
As Program Coordinator, Alma continues to advance our current student programming initiatives and communications, which include being a LEAD seminar instructor for transfer and first-year students, mentoring our LEAD Council members, coordinating family engagement opportunities, and contributing to the expansion of our social media presence across various platforms.
Originally from Orange County, Alma attended Orange Coast Community College and then transferred to the University of California, Santa Cruz where she majored in Legal Studies and minored in Education. In addition to her work with the LEAD Scholars Program she obtained her Master's degree at the School of Education & Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University.
As a first-generation college graduate herself, she is grateful for every opportunity, colleague, and mentor that has supported her endeavors and passion of working with marginalized student populations. Aside from having five years of experience teaching faith formation, Alma has spent the last six years working with first-generation students. She is highly motivated to always encourage student agency and enjoys supporting students in their initiatives to build a welcoming and stronger community. In her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends back in Orange County, reading, traveling, and discovering new coffee shops.
