Amy Snyder currently serves as Director of Special Projects in University Life at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She serves as a special assistant to the Vice President of University Life on division level initiatives and is a member of University Life Cabinet leadership. Ms. Snyder’s primary focus is professional development for the division’s professional staff and graduate assistants. Ms. Snyder has also served as Associate Dean of University Life, Assistant Dean/Director of Student Activities, Director of Orientation and Family Programs and Services, and Interim Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Education. Ms. Snyder’s leadership work has focused on collaboratively developing more effective student transition and initiation experiences, increasing student engagement and academic success, and creating parent and family engagement and services.

Snyder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication with a specialization in Public Relations from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She earned a Master of Education in Counseling and Education Leadership from Clemson University, where she was awarded Graduate Student Woman of the Year. She has presented at multiple regional and national conferences during her career as well as served on several regional and national organization leadership boards and conference planning teams, including the National Orientation Directors Association National Conference steering committee.

Ms. Snyder coordinates professional development, staff engagement, onboarding, and HR-adjacent initiatives for the 400+ division of University Life. She oversees the coordination of the division’s graduate assistantship initiatives including partnership with the Higher Education and Student Development academic program. Ms. Snyder is engaged in leadership focusing on institutional well-being initiatives and divisional strategic planning. She continues to be a divisional leader advancing the goals and initiatives to improve the student and staff experience.
