Whereas, she is a steward of the student affairs profession affirming her passion and commitment by sharing her knowledge and supporting initiatives; and

Whereas, she currently serves as vice chancellor for student affairs & campus life at University of Massachusetts Amherst inAmherst, Massachusetts; and

Whereas, she previously served as vice chancellor for student affairs and professor of higher education at the University of Mississippi, and associate vice president for student affairs and enrollment management and assistant vice president for planning and operations at Northern Illinois University; and

Whereas, she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The University of Akron, a master’s degree in higher education administration and college student personnel from Kent State University, and a doctorate in adult and higher education from Northern Illinois University; and

Whereas, her professional activities and affiliations include having served as member of the APLU Council on Student Affairs Award Committee, secretary and board member for APLU Council on Student Affairs, invited participant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizen’s Academy, member of the NASPA Enough is Enough Advisory Board, and member of the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Colleges Off-site Accreditation Review Team; and

Whereas, a sampling of her professional accolades include numerous publications and presentations, Hall of Fame Inductee by the College of Education, Health and Human Services at Kent State University, Vicki Mahan Ally of the Year Award at the University of Mississippi, Lift Every Voice Award from the University of Mississippi, Executive Leadership Academy graduate from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, University of Mississippi Gospel Choir Dozier-Tony Service Award, and Fraternity & Sorority Life Advisor of the Year Award at The University of Mississippi; and

Whereas, her community service includes serving as a member of theLeBron James Family Foundation Board of Directors, and member of the SEC Athletic Event Security Committee; and

Whereas, she is a dedicated partner to her spouse Dave, serves Doberman rescues, enjoys boxing, and traveling around the world; and

Whereas, her breadth of experience is rooted in a deep commitment to the students she continues to serve as well as to the student affairs profession; and

Therefore, in recognition of the high regard in which she is held by her colleagues across the Association, the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors recognizes Brandi Hephner LaBanc as a Pillar of the Profession on this 30th day of March 2020.
