Whereas, she is a steward of the student affairs profession affirming her passion and commitment by sharing her knowledge and supporting initiatives; and

Whereas, she currently serves as vice president of student development at Massachusetts College of Art and Design inBoston, Massachusetts; and

Whereas, she previously served as vice president of student affairs, dean of students and director of student activities/student center at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and coordinator of programs, student activities office at Boston University; and

Whereas, she earned a bachelor’s degree in art education from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont and a doctorate in educational leadership from Johnson & Wales University; and

Whereas, her professional activities and affiliations include serving as coordinator of NASPA’s International Exchanges, member and incoming chair-elect for the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors, officer and chair of the New England Research on Higher Education Senior Student Affairs Officer Think Tank, and board member for the Massachusetts Association of Women in Education; and

Whereas, a sampling of her professional accolades include numerous publications and presentations, the Mary Tobin Award for Outstanding Service to Women in Higher Education from the Massachusetts Association for Women in Education, and the Outstanding Advisor Award from Boston University Law School; and

Whereas, her community service includes serving in leadership roles with Colleges of the Fenway Consortium, leadership roles within the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, a board member with Community Rowing, and volunteering with the Head of the Charles Regatta,the world's largest, two-day, regatta; and

Whereas, her breadth of experience is rooted in a deep commitment to the students she continues to serve as well as to the student affairs profession; and

Therefore, in recognition of the high regard in which she is held by her colleagues across the Association, the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors recognizes Maureen Keefe as a Pillar of the Profession on this 30th day of March 2020.
