Whereas, she is a steward of the student affairs profession affirming her passion and commitment by sharing her knowledge and supporting initiatives; and

Whereas, she currently serves as vice chancellor for student affairs at University of Minnesota-Morris inMorris, Minnesota; and

Whereas, she previously served as director of student activities and assistant director, office of student activities at the University of Minnesota, Morris, and student union program director at Pittsburg State University; and

Whereas, she earned a bachelor’s degree in student personnel services and early childhood education from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master’s degree in public policy and administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; and

Whereas, her professional activities and affiliations include serving as the first division chair of the NASPA Small Colleges and Universities Division, member of the NASPA Board of Directors, chair of the NASPA Small Colleges and Universities Institute, member of the Collaboration for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning Board of Directors, and Upper Midwest Regional Coordinator and Regional Conference Chair for the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA); and

Whereas, a sampling of her professional accolades include numerous publications and presentations, the University of Minnesota All-University Academic Staff Award, the University of Minnesota Morris Outstanding Support of Student Leadership Award, the NACA Volunteer of the Year, and the University of Minnesota, Morris Outstanding Service Award; and

Whereas, her community service includes serving as vice president of the Land Stewardship Project Land Gifts Committee and Board of Directors, board member of the Morris Regional Fitness Center, board chair of the Pomme de Terre Foods Board of Directors, and appointee to the State of Minnesota Judicial Selection Commission of the Minnesota Supreme Court; and

Whereas, she is a dedicated partner to her spouse Doug Loy and together enjoy restoring 65 acres of land to native tall grass prairie in Pope County and growing their own food supply; and

Whereas, her breadth of experience is rooted in a deep commitment to the students she continues to serve as well as to the student affairs profession; and

Therefore, in recognition of the high regard in which she is held by her colleagues across the Association, the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors recognizes Sandra Olson-Loy as a Pillar of the Profession on this 30th day of March 2020.
