Shadia Sachedina is a Student Affairs Educator and has worked in the profession for over 25 years. She currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Success & the Dean of Students at the Fashion Institute of Technology with the State University of New York. Dr. Sachedina has worked in a variety of functional areas within Student Affairs including Residence Life, Student Activities, Leadership Development, Student Conduct, Health and Wellness, Orientation and First Year Experience programs at different Institutions. Her teaching experience includes serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor within the Higher Education Administration programs at Baruch College(City University of New York) as well as New York University and most recently as a Guest Lecturer at Teachers College, Columbia University and Manhattanville College. A Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Dr. Sachedina works with students and colleagues to help them uncover their true talent potential so that they may become stronger leaders and better managers. She is currently working on a Graduate Certification in Restorative Practices at the International Institute of Restorative Practices, with a goal to develop intentional restorative practice methods into daily student affairs practice. Dr. Sachedina is committed to working closely and in partnership with colleagues to serve and uphold the tenets of the Student Affairs Profession. She has been actively involved with NASPA for many years and has served on the Region II Advisory Board as well as the NASPA AVP Steering Committee. She is honored to serve as a Faculty member for the NASPA AVP Institute.
