Whereas, she is a steward of the student affairs profession affirming her passion and commitment by sharing her knowledge and supporting initiatives; and

Whereas, she currently serves as vice president for student affairs at Missouri Western State University inSt. Joseph, Missouri; and

Whereas, she previously served as assistant vice president of student affairs at Fort Hays State University, assistant director of college advancement for student life/director of student life at Kansas State University Polytechnic, and coordinator for academic affairs at Kansas State University; and

Whereas, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English/journalism and a master’s degree in counselor education from Emporia State University, and is completing a doctorate in student affairs in higher education from Kansas State University; and

Whereas, her professional activities and affiliations include serving as a member of the MIAA Senior Student Affairs Officers Group, member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Education’s Higher Education Administration Advisory Board, member of the Missouri Council on Student Affairs, regional director of NASPA Region IV-W, member of the NASPA Board of Directors, division chair of NASPA’s Professional Standards Division, faculty member for the ACUHO-I STARS College, member of the ACPA Directorate Body, co-chair of the NASPA IV-W/E Regional Conference, and president of the Kansas College Student Personnel Association; and

Whereas, a sampling of her professional accolades include numerous publications and presentations, co-author of “Using outcomes and rubrics in student affairs" in Building a Culture of Evidence in Student Affairs: A Guide for Leaders and Practitioners”, the Saint Joseph News Press “Twenty Who Count” Award, YWCA Women of Excellence nominee for “Woman in the Workplace,” FHSU Fraternity and Sorority Community Outstanding Faculty/Staff Member award, recognition as an honorary member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, Kansas State University-Salina Staff Member of the Year; and

Whereas, her community service includes serving as a member of the Emporia State University Alumni Board, vice president of the Saint Joseph Allied Arts Council, volunteer with Youth Alliance Project Graduation, member of the Saint Joseph Metropolitan Planning Organization Steering Committee, and member of the Missouri Western State University Gold Coat Club; and

Whereas, she is a dedicated parent of two children, Chase and Kinsey Meyer; and

Whereas, her breadth of experience is rooted in a deep commitment to the students she continues to serve as well as to the student affairs profession; and

Therefore, in recognition of the high regard in which she is held by her colleagues across the Association, the NASPA Foundation Board of Directors recognizes Shana L. Warkentine Meyer as a Pillar of the Profession on this 30th day of March 2020.
