Shawn A. Newton is currently serving as the Associate Dean of Students at Suffolk University. Shawn's role entails managing the day-to-day operations of the Dean of Student’s office at Suffolk University. Dean Newton work provides leadership and management to several engagement areas including the Center for Community Engagement, the Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion, Orientation & Family Programs, Student Leadership & Involvement, Performing Arts, Off-Campus Housing, Veteran Affairs, Student Outreach & Support, Community Standards and division liaison for Title IX. He is responsible for developing and implementing programs, services and strategies specifically designed to increase student retention and promote a student centered campus environment. Collaborating with students, faculty and staff, he also helps to identify and respond to students in crisis. In addition, he represent the interests of the Dean of Students office and Division of Student Affairs on divisional committees and University committees and lead policy and protocol development for Student Affairs and identified campus issues.
