Meet the Wyoming Membership Coordinator - Jen Banks

April 29, 2016 Dr. Tiffany Smith Oklahoma City University

Role on Board:  Wyoming Membership Coordinator

Hometown:  Gillette, WY

Institution(s) Attended:   University of Wyoming (BA-English, MS-Counseling)

Institution you currently work at and fun fact about it:    Laramie County Community College and we were named the 2015/2016 Top Tech-Savvy Community College in the nation.  We also have fun programs like rodeo production and wind energy.

Why you got involved in the Region and what you have enjoyed most thus far:  I went to the national conference in March and just felt so apart of something—they were speaking my language and shared my passion.  I have enjoyed networking with other higher ed professionals on Twitter most—it’s such a neat way to connect!

A memorable moment during your career thus far:   My most memorable moments have been with our Campus Activities Board when we did a retreat at a Laser Tag venue and watching our student leaders develop and attend City Council meetings to help our college purchase more land.

What are your hobbies?   Yoga, Crossfit, running, hiking, reading, meditation, writing, blogging, and serving my community in various capacities.

If you could travel anywhere in the world for 2 weeks with an endless budget, where would you go?   I would want to go anywhere that has mountains where I could test my hand at beginning mountaineering like Tanzania, Mongolia, Russia, Argentina, Alaska, Washington, etc.

Jen Banks is the NASPA IV-W Wyoming Membership Coordinator.  You can reach Jen at [email protected].
