Finding Success in the New Normal

The 3rd annual NASPA-SC Drive-In conference will be held at Coastal Carolina University on Thursday, May 19th, 2022. Our conference theme will be Finding Success in the New Normal. We are excited to gather professionals, students, and faculty from around South Carolina for professional develeopment. 

Note: At this time, NASPA South Carolina will be following the CDC guidelines for masking indoors. We will provide updates regarding masking guidelines as the date approaches.

COVID-19 Event Safety

All participants at NASPA in-person conferences, whether a faculty member/presenter, attendee, sponsor/exhibitor, staff, guest, or vendor will be required to be fully vaccinated. Individuals who require a vaccination exemption must provide documentation of a negative PCR test no more than 72 hours prior to arrival to any event. All participants at NASPA events will be required to wear masks. Please see the NASPA COVID Event Safety and Responsibility webpage for complete information about NASPA's policy.

Registration Details

We welcome NASPA and non-NASPA members from South Carolina and neighboring states to join us! There is one flat registration rate this year, regardless of membership! 

  • The regular registration deadline is Thursday, April 28th

  • The LAST day for late registration is Thursday, May 12th 

Registration is $50 per person and includes lunch. Check back soon for the registration link. 

For institutions interested in registering a group of attendees, please follow these steps:  

1. Have each participant register individually, and upon checkout please ask them to select "Bill Me Later" option

2. Ask each participant to forward their emailed invoice they automatically receive upon registering 

3. Add the total amount of all the registration and additional fees

4. Issue a check for the total amount of all the registration and additional fees to the "NASPA Region lll South Carolina". In the memo or check stub, please list each individual participant invoice number, which can be found in the forwarded invoice. 

5. Mail the check to the NASPA Home Office at 111 K ST NE, 10th Floor, Washington, D.C 20002. Please make sure you indicate that it is for the "NASPA Region lll South Carolina" and that the invoice numbers for each individual participant in your group is listed. 

Please note that group registrations cannot be processed using a credit card.

Keynote Speaker

Guy Ilagan

Guy Ilagan, PhD, LPC, LPCS, NCC teaches graduate students in The Citadel’s Counselor Education Programs, in Charleston, SC. He earned a PhD from Clemson University, Master’s Degree from The Citadel, and Undergraduate Degree from College of Charleston. Guy has practiced counseling in a variety of community and college settings. He has conducted studies on counselor effectiveness, the mental health effects of wilderness backpacking on college students, and suicide intervention. Over a two-year period, he compiled teams from the US to provide basic and advanced suicide prevention trainings for educators, social workers, counselors, military, and police in all six districts of Belize. Guy’s work has been published in the Journal of American College Health, Journal of College Student Psychotherapy, Journal of Adventure Education & Outdoor Learning, Research in Outdoor Education, and The Mentor: Innovative Scholarship on Academic Advising. Guy and his wife Jill (a brilliant psychologist) live in Charleston, SC where they enjoy watersports, cycling, and hanging out with friends.
