Mentorship & Coaching in Student Affairs: Building Connections, Cultivating Growth
Mentorship and coaching can play important roles throughout a career in Student Affairs, but what do they look like in practice, and how do our needs change as we grow professionally? This session will explore the differences between mentoring and coaching, when each can be most beneficial, and how professionals can intentionally build developmental networks that support their growth. Participants will also consider strategies for becoming effective mentors and how coaching can support professional reflection and growth. The session will conclude with information about NASPA Region III’s new Mentorship & Coaching Initiative, including opportunities to serve as a mentor, participate as a mentee, and engage in future coaching circles.
