EMERGENCY AID CASE STUDY REPORT - Lessons Learned from 2026-2026 Campus Microgrant Recipients

Emergency Aid Case Study Report: Lessons Learned from 2025-2026 Campus Microgrant Recipients

June 3, 2026 Alexa Wesley Chamberlain NASPA

Emergency aid serves as a critical, timely resource to support students experiencing financial distress and unexpected expenses. This report highlights the key strategies and approaches to administering emergency aid taken by the five institutions awarded TIAA microgrants in 2025: Community College of Aurora, Grambling State University, LaGuardia Community College, South Louisiana Community College, and University of Houston Downtown.

This summer, NASPA will engage with the new 2026 cohort of TIAA Emergency Aid Microgrant Award recipients – Allegany College of Maryland, Coastal Bend College, Doane University, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and Montclair State University – to continue to add to the case study collection and inform the development of resources for members leading this work.
