In NASPA’s 100-year history, the Association has sought to include all areas of higher education over the years. In the last decade, NASPA’s commitment to creating more specialized content and spaces for community college professionals has exploded. What started as a Knowledge Community at NASPA was voted to become a division within NASPA in 2007. Over the last 12 years, NASPA and the CCD have created a partnership where professional staff can work alongside higher education professionals in various areas of the field to learn how to support students, faculty, staff, and to create opportunities to keep the field innovative and inclusive of the needs of all types of community college and 2-year institutions.


Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Learn about the wide network of community college and higher education professionals connected to NASPA
  • Understand the membership benefits NASPA offers to members at community colleges to help them grow professionally and personally within the field
  • Develop a plan on how to navigate the various pathways to resources and opportunities at NASPA for professional and personal growth
  • Connect with resources designed for community college professionals by peers and experts in the field
  • Understand how to connect with other higher education professionals outside the community college space to learn how to better implement/grow programs, support students interested in pursuing a 4-year program, and how to find resources and research related to one’s work on campus
