2023 NASPA Region IV-West Conference

We acknowledge that the land we are visitors on for this conference sits on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded homelands of many Indigenous and tribal nations. Thirty-nine sovereign tribal nations call this territory home in what is now known as the state of Oklahoma. This conference locale sits on the original homelands of the Wichita and Caddo peoples and is now the modern day home of the Osage, Muscogee, and Cherokee Tribal Nations, who were forcibly removed from their original homes to what is now known as Tulsa, Oklahoma. Much of Tulsa resides and occupies space within the Muscogee Nation reservation.

Due to discriminatory federal policies and broken treaties between the United States and the sovereign Indigenous Nations, many of these tribes inhabiting these lands were illegally forced to migrate west during removal in the 1830s. The journey was long and tumultuous for our ancestors and relatives, and the trauma is still present today. We acknowledge the forced removal, genocide, white supremacy, and systems of oppression that have dispossessed Indigenous peoples of their homelands. We recognize this often, hidden truth and assume the responsibility as guests on this land to educate ourselves and others on the Indigenous histories and importance of the land and water we are benefiting from today.

Registration as a member is based on individual membership status at the time of the event. If your current membership will expire prior to the event, you will have the option to renew at the time of registration to receive the member rate.

If you are not a current member and are employed by a college or university that is an institutional member, you can join as a professional affiliate member for $80. If your institution is NOT a member, you can join as an associate affiliate member for $250. Both membership types provide access to the individual member rate for the event.
