Professional Development Opportunities

Issues of equity, inclusion, justice, and civic engagement are integrated across NASPA's professional development offerings. In addition, we also provide dedicated spaces for deeper exploration of these issues, as well as for community-building and professional pathway development.

NASPA Multicultural Institute | December 9-11, 2021

The NASPA Multicultural Institute, which takes place every two years, brings together student affairs practitioners to share successful practices that establish and strengthen pathways for success for minoritized groups, enhance the innovative praxis of research, theory, and practice, and foster effective civic and democratic engagement for justice.

NASPA Professional Pathways Programs

In collaboration with NASPA constituent groups and volunteer leaders, the Association offers cohort-based institutes designed for emerging and mid-level leaders who aspire to senior student affairs roles.

NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program

This semi-structured mentoring program for students from traditionally underrepresented and historically disenfranchised groups diversifies and broadens the pipeline of the student affairs profession. Students accepted into the program as known as Fellows and have opportunities for scholarships, on-campus mentorship, and professional development events.

Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Division

The Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Division works to raise the visibility of issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice within the Association and the student affairs profession. The Division includes representatives from each of NASPA’s identity-based knowledge communities and other constituent groups. Together, these representatives work closely with NASPA staff to provide timely, comprehensive expertise to members on social justice and equity issues occurring at the national, state and local levels.

The Division is also the convenver of NASPActs, a committee designed to provide outlets for social action and civic engagement opportunities.
