CCD Latinx/a/o Task Force

The Latinx/a/o Task Force to advance Latinx/a/o student affairs professionals at community colleges, headed by Dr. Edward Martinez, seeks to advance current and aspiring student affairs professionals of Latino descent who wish to work in community colleges. The Latinx/a/o Task Force recognizes the growing need for Latinx/a/o student affairs professionals, especially at community colleges where the majority of Latino students start in higher education. Increasing the presence of Latinx/a/o student affairs professionals at community colleges will not only allow Latinx students to see themselves reflected in the educational environment, but also allow them to recognize the field of student affairs as a viable career choice.

The mission of the NASPA Community Colleges Division Latinx/a/o Task Force is to execute its plan, with an association-wide impact, to advance Latinx persons in the profession of student affairs who aspire to or currently work in community colleges.

In October of 2015, the NASPA CCD LTF was selected as one of the nearly 150 public and private sector organizations who answered the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics’ 25th anniversary call to action.

Senior Student Affairs Officers for Latinx/a/o Student Success

In Fall 2017, the LTF sought to collaborate with senior student affairs staff to commit to promot Latinx/a/o higher education access and success. Promoting and enhancing Latinx student success will ensure the Latinx/a/o community has access to education and opportunity.
