In its 13th year, the Women’s Leadership Institute provides an experience that caters to women’s needs within the higher education profession. Representing the profession will be women from facilities and operations, administration, auxiliary services, student affairs, recreation, and libraries who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education and share a passion for the profession.

About

Coproduced by several higher education associations, this unique program will bring together administrators from across campus functions to help you:

  • Hone your leadership skills for working in a rapidly changing environment
  • Develop a better understanding of the campus as a workplace and culture
  • Share experiences with others about how campuses are adapting and adjusting to the new reality
  • Create new personal networks and networking skills to better tap the higher education community

Through presentations, small-group exercises, and discussion, you will gain a practical understanding of what it takes to be a leader on a college or university campus—both the challenges and the rewards. Examine the unique roles, skills, and relationships needed to lead as higher education faces and deals with the most challenging period in 50 years.

The Women's Leadership Institute is an experience that provides professional development opportunities on issues that affect women within the higher education community. Attendees are women who represent the many functional areas on campus who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education and share a passion for the field.

Leadership development and positioning continue to be concerns for women in society in general and is a focus for the development of the next generation of leaders in higher education. Research shows that while the gap may be narrowing, pay and promotion disparity continue to be problems for women working on campus.

The Women's Leadership Institute's mission is to bring together women who represent the vast communities across institutions of higher education. It provides a special opportunity to learn not just about leadership skills but about how other parts of the campus function, what their priorities and challenges are, and how to bridge the communication gap that may exist when we try to work across campus cultures.

Registration

Registration fees include general session and breakout sessions, program materials, an opening reception, dinner, lunches, brunch, and two continental breakfasts. Group activities will allow participants to refocus after sessions, but there are many other activities you can do on your own.

Register early for lower fees and guarenteed space in the program. Early bird rates available until September 19.  Registration is managed through our conference partner, ACUI and NASPA members are asked to create an account upon registration.  NASPA members will receive the member rate to attend the confernece. Member Fee Details
The member fee listed above is extended to all members of participating associations. At the time of registration, all delegates will view the member fees. Confirmation of membership by your association will occur, and the additional $100 nonmember fee will be assessed and invoiced to you if necessary.

Cancellation Policy
Upon written request, cancellations will be issued a refund and assessed a $75 processing fee prior to the registration deadline of September 19,  2018. A $150 processing fee will be assessed for a cancellation requested after Sept. 19.  No refunds will be issued after October 1, and the full registration fee will be assessed. The entire registration fee is due at the time of registration. A $25 processing fee will be added to all registrations not paid in full by the first day of the seminar. Checks or purchase orders should be made payable to the Association of College Unions International. All registration fees will be refunded if the seminar is cancelled because of low registration. Please register as early as possible so we can plan appropriate program materials.

Lodging is provided by the beautiful Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa. The associations have negotiated a deeply discounted rate of $169 for this conference for either single or double occupancy. The resort offers many amenities, including a full service spa, and is located near downtown Newport and Balboa Peninsula. A fitness center is available 24 hours/7days a week, and the spa also offers a wonderful day pass for $25.
