2019 NASPA Region I Mid-Level Institute

The program takes place over the course of four sessions, which run from March to June. Participation in all four sessions is expected, and participants must attend three of the four sessions to be considered a graduate of the Institute. Each session includes morning coffee and lunch. Session one includes an opening networking reception and session four includes a graduation dinner. Dress is business casual.

About

Region I is pleased to offer mid-level managers the opportunity to engage in conversation with colleagues and senior student affairs officers around the mid-level experience.

“Making the Most of the Middle” is scheduled for four days, one day in each of the months of March through June.  The institute strives to create an environment where mid-level managers explore the challenges and rewards of leading from the middle. Specific goals for the Mid-Level Institute include:

  • Providing a collegial environment where mid-level managers examine the mid-level experience, with emphasis on exploration of challenges and rewards;
  • Creating opportunities for self-reflection, networking, and big-picture thinking;
  • Facilitating an interactive learning environment where mid-level managers can discuss current topics;
  • Providing participants the opportunity to reflect on their mid-level experience with an SSAO; examining the career path, with emphasis on identifying one's own preparedness to pursue opportunities to advance to the next level.
  • Creating an opportunity for participants to tour NASPA Region 1, with an emphasis on exploring the diversity of locations and institution types represented in the region
